Meral Ece is your Lib Dem GLA (Greater London Assembly) Candidate for North East London, which includes Islington, Hackney & Waltham Forest. Meral has been a community activist for 20 years, and a councillor since 1994. She passionately believes that local people need their views to be effectively represented at local and London-wide level. Meral is committed to representing communities in Hackney, Islington & Waltham Forest.

Born in Islington North London, Meral has lived in Islington and Hackney all her life; she has 3 children, who have all studied in local state schools in both Islington and Hackney. Her son is currently studying for his A levels at Stoke Newington Sixth Form College. Meral knows only too well the challenges faced by families bringing up teenagers in inner-city London.

Meral is a member of the Liberal Democrats Federal Executive Committee.
