Mosque Development Plans - Leyton High Road

9.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Mon 14th Apr 2008

The Mosque in Leyton High Road has put in a planning application to the council to develop the land that is covered by garages between Leslie and Downsell Roads.

At a recent meeting of local residents concerns were raised about the following points: -

1) Current high levels of parking problems in nearby narrow roads which would be made worse by increased traffic movements,

2) The site would be over-developed by a large building that would overlook the rear of their homes and backgardens,

3) The increase in general noise and disturbance,

4) A building that would be out of keeping in an area of Victorian residential buildings.

Residents have agreed to write to the planning department about their concerns, and to encourage neighbours to do the same.

Leyton and Wanstead Liberal Democrats encourages all local people to respond to the public consultation so that all views an be taken into account before decisions are made.
