Thanks to local Liberal Democrats the environment will be placed at the heart of Waltham Forest Council's agenda. From now onwards every report produced by the Council must include a 'Climate Change Impact Assessment'. This will force council decision makers to consider the effect that their actions will have on the environment. This was one of the raft of green measures introduced by the Liberal Democrats including working with businesses to introduce a 'bag for life' scheme for shoppers and campaigning to end free plastic bags in the borough.Forest Ward campaigner Samina Safdar says: "These are simple and effective measures introduced by the Liberal Democrats to make the Council more environmentally friendly and improve the quality of local life".
