Cllr. Winnie Smith meets local residents at Villiers Close

News update - Villiers Close, new windows, Leyton Mills action on crime/illegal DVD's and Leyton turns into lakeland.

Villiers Close - After a long delay, the proposed window replacement and outside works to Villiers Close has started. Liberal Democrat Councillor Winnie Smith says: "Villiers Close tenants have been angry at the delay as the works were promised over a year ago".

Leyton Mills Shopping Centre - Many residents have been concerned about the illegal DVD sellers, gamblers and other criminals working at Leyton Mills shopping area. The good news is that arrangements have been agreed for 3 Police officers to be permanently stationed in the shopping area.We hope that with the support of shoppers and the shops the area will become crime free.

Leyton turns into Lakeland! - The recent downpour of rains has turned some of our roads into lakes. York Road, leading into Ruckholt Road, continually floods despite the Council cleaning the gullies. Lakes have also appeared in Church Road by Villiers Close and at the junction with Grange Park Road. The Leyton Focus Team has suggested that the drains are too small to take away the water and have asked the Council to investigate.
