The Avro RJ100 is the largest aeroplane to currently use the airport, the proposals will allow bigger planes such as the Airbus A320 that can carry twice the number of passengers to be used.

More planes, more noise and more pollution is what is happening in the skies over Leyton and Leytonstone and local residents are complaining about the increased noise. Focus has found out that Newham Council granted permission for an increase in flights from London City Airport doubling them from 76,000 to 120,000 a year and for use of larger capacity jets. The airport hopes to increase flights to 176,000 per year, great for the airport but misery for residents with the flight paths crossing our homes. Parliamentary candidate Cllr. Farooq Qureshi, who is appalled that this expansion has largely been kept from residents, has organised a public meeting about this issue. Representatives of 'Fight the Flight' and London City Airport have been invited to attend. If you are concerned about noise and pollution from the increase in planes over our houses, then please come along to The Quaker Meeting House, Bush Road off the Green Man roundabout at 7.00pm on Friday 2nd October. Bring your neighbours too! Wanstead and Leyton Liberal Democrats says: The Airport wrote to Waltham Forest Council about the plans but our Council failed to reply or inform residents. When confronted, no one knew why they failed to reply! This is disgraceful. What do you think? Write to this web site or your local Focus team with your views.
