Protect our green spaces, playing fields and green spaces with the Liberal Democrats

Leyton and Wanstead Liberal Democrats and Focus Teams across the Borough have found that residents are worried that their open spaces, leisure and sports facilities are under threat and feel that the Council is not listening to their concerns. The Lib Dem Councillors therefore presented a motion to the December Council meeting calling for protection for our playing fields, green spaces and sports facilities. Lib Dem councillor, Bob Sullivan, pointed out that many green spaces have already been built on - like the green spaces on Leyton Grange, allotments built on the marshes and the possibility of Drapers Field being turned into a car park for the Olympics.Labour's attempt to alter the motion to say that there was no 'threat' to our green spaces was rejected and the Lib Dem motion was agreed.
